Ice rink opening in Downtown Sunnyvale Friday

While temperatures in the West Valley continue to reach daytime highs above 60 degrees, the holiday season and the changing calendar mean the arrival of wintertime traditions.

To get in on the festivities, the Winter Ice Rink in Downtown Sunnyvale is set to open this Friday, November 22, providing a family friendly activity over the next few months.

Located in Redwood Square, 250 S Murphy Ave. in Sunnyvale, the rink has a scenic location beneath redwood trees and in close proximity to the downtown stores, bars, and restaurants.

Friday’s opening will feature free skating sessions, with no reservation required, and a number of events for every age range including a DJ, on-ice performances, and appearances from local dignitaries.

The rink is scheduled to be open through January 20, 2020, with various special gatherings over the season, including curling lessons, robots on ice demonstrations, and food truck evenings.

Beginning on Saturday, November 23, tickets will be required to skate – available online in advance here or in limited quantities at the box office each day.
