Local non-profit organization Grassroots Ecology is set to expand restoration efforts this weekend, adding to their extensive series of restoration events at Cupertino’s McClellan Ranch.
Attendees at the event, set for Saturday, November 23, will be working on the riparian ecosystem at San Tomas Aquino Creek, near where it goes under Westmont Ave. in Southwest San Jose.
These local restoration efforts help build community support for returning these habitats to their native glory, improving the health of area wildlife and preventing invasive species from spreading further.
The event is 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday and will begin near the Valley Water fences near Westmont High School, 5112 Westmont Ave. Parking is available on the street.
Grassroots recommends sturdy shoes, sunscreen or rain gear depending on the weather, and a water bottle.
Anyone looking to participate must register online and fill out a waiver here.
Organizers also stress that participants with accessibility issues are welcome, but should reach out in advance to ensure project flexibility.
