The much-anticipated new Star Wars film debuts this week, bringing an end to the decades-long saga, with fans waiting eagerly for the chance to watch the latest chapter.
Los Gatos Rotary is hoping to utilize some of that enthusiasm and direct it to a set of worthy causes. On Friday, December 20 – opening night for the film – the organization is hosting a viewing of ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ with proceeds benefitting Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Lucille Packard Foundation for Children’s Health.
Those two groups support families of critically ill children by providing a place to stay, meals, schooling, camp for siblings, counseling options, and a range of other services particularly for families who have to travel away from home for their children to get care.
The Los Gatos Theater, 41 N Santa Cruz Ave., will host the viewing, which starts at 5:45 p.m. Several families currently staying at Ronald McDonald house will be in attendance to share in the entertainment.
Organizers encourage attendees to wear costumes, and the best costume contest winner will win a $100 prize.
Tickets are $45 per adult and $30 for children 12 and under.
