With the winter solstice rapidly approaching, marking the beginning of winter and the shortest day of sunlight for the year, one West Valley group is marking the occasion in a unique way.
GreenTown Los Altos is hosting a 12-mile night bike ride on Saturday evening, bringing a community activity to what can otherwise be a dark night.
Starting at 6:30 p.m., the ride meets at Peet’s in Los Altos before making its way to Palo Alto’s Christmas Tree Lane for a look at the festive holiday lights. A hot chocolate stop on the ride home will help warm attendees.
Organizers remind folks to check their lights and helmets before riding. A GreenTown leader and sweeper will help keep the group on track. The organization’s mission is to educate and inspire on actions for more sustainable communities.
