Well-known boba shop opening location in Cupertino

Fans of boba tea, the phenomenon that generates long lines of adoring patrons in cities across the Bay Area, will have a new shop to try when Rare Tea opens in Cupertino Friday.

The well-known brand, which has eight locations in Northern California including in Berkeley and Davis, is opening in Cupertino, with specials throughout the weekend.

Tony Lei, the Rare Tea franchisee, highlighted the company’s unique TeaPresso technology.

“What differentiates us is the fact that we individually package and grind our tea leaves into ideal sizes to ensure quality and consistency in each cup,” said Lei.

The Cupertino location, first in Silicon Valley for Rare Tea, is opening at 20956 Homestead Rd., where customers can get a buy-one, get-one-free special through closing on Sunday.

Rare Tea features a number of specialized flavors of boba, including caramelized brown sugar, as well as classics of the milk and bubble tea varieties.
