Young Sunnyvale residents will have the chance to get hands-on experience with a range of design and materials this weekend.
The Sunnyvale Public Library, 665 West Olive Avenue, is hosting the STEM – science, technology, engineering, and math – event on Saturday, October 12. Students ages 8 to 12 will have the chance to design and build machines using everyday materials.
Led by the Silicon Valley chapter of Destination Imagination, the event will help attendees develop skills in engineering and scientific experimentation. Organizers say attendees “will be guided through some basic concepts and building blocks and then challenged to design and build a structure, device, or pathway that have specific characteristics.”
While spaces for the event are currently filled, there is a walk in waitlist. The free, design event runs from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
