Public safety agencies to host identity theft and fire safety workshop in Campbell

Older adults are all-too-frequent targets of scammers and identity thieves. A workshop in Campbell is aiming to give this population the skills needed to defend themselves.

On Tuesday, June 18, the Campbell Police Department will host a free workshop, designed specifically for older adults, to help residents understand the threat of identity theft and learn how to protect their information. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The Santa Clara County Fire Department will also be on hand to provide home fire-safety information. The department will convey the importance of having a home escape plan should disaster strike.

This ninety-minute workshop is also open to families and individuals who want to know risk factors and help their older relatives stay prepared.

The Mary Campbell Room in Campbell’s Community Center, 1 West Campbell Ave., will host the event. Attendees will be able to tour a police vehicle and fire engine following the workshop.
