As Bay Area residents strive to be more eco-friendly, home composting is an easy option to reduce your waste footprint and to improve the health of your gardens.
This weekend, Palo Alto residents can learn the tips and tricks of home composting.
The UC Cooperative Extension Composting Education Program will host its next Home Composting Class at Palo Alto’s Cubberley Communty Center, 4000 Middlefield Rd., on Saturday, June 15.
The workshop will run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
According to Palo Alto’s website, “Adding compost to your soil improves its structure, helps it absorb and hold moisture, supplies slow-release nutrients to your plants, reduces erosion and allows your plants to develop better root structure which helps them grow bigger, stronger and healthier.”

The Composting Education Program is a joint effort from the UC Cooperative Extension and the cities in and the County of Santa Clara. For more details about the composting education program, click here.
