The annual Outrun Lupus 5k race is coming to Campbell this weekend, raising money and awareness for the Lupus Foundation of Northern California.
This is the 25th running of the race, which takes place Saturday, June 8, in Campbell Park at the corners of E Campbell & Gilman Avenues. In addition to the race, community members and exhibitors will be on hand to share resources about lupus.
According to organizers, Campbell’s event is “the largest lupus community and awareness event in the region.” About 1,000 attendees are expected.
Registration for the event is still open. While online registration ends at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 7, on-site registration at event site will be available starting at 6:45 a.m. on the morning of the event. Registration includes a bib, official time, and a t-shirt. Fees are currently $50 for runners and $40 for walkers, with reduced rates for participants under age 12. To register online, click here.
The start for runners is 8 a.m. on Saturday. The event is also pet friendly and dogs are welcome with runners and walkers. Participants can also enter their pets into the event’s Mascot Contest.
