Members of the Cupertino community who have taken “extra steps” to better their city will be recognized for their efforts Thursday evening.

Each year, the city recognizes residents and community members who have made inspiring efforts in the realms of volunteering, technology, sustainability, and public safety. Fellow community members nominated deserving individuals, and the city announced the winners in late March.

The CREST Awards (Cupertino Recognizes Extra Steps Taken) winners for 2019 are:

  • Lifetime Achievement: Steve Hill
  • Volunteer of the Year: Audrey Cui
  • Organization of the Year: Knights of Columbus
  • Rising Star: Fabrizio Vitagliano
  • Public Safety Champion: Sidharth Rajaram
  • Sustainability Champion: De Anza College; Grassroots Ecology

Thursday’s CREST Awards ceremony is open to the public and is free to attend. Cupertino Community Hall, 10350 Torre Ave., will provide the backdrop for the event, set for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
