Cupertino neighborhoods encouraged to participate in National Night Out

Cupertino neighborhoods encouraged to participate in National Night OutThe Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office posted this photo from National Night Out at Target in Cupertino last year.

The annual National Night Out (NNO) event is not until Tuesday, Aug. 7, but the city of Cupertino is getting the word out early to encourage neighborhoods to take part.

In fact, the first 25 neighborhoods that register at www.cupertino.org/nno will receive a $20 Target gift card to use at their National Night Out event, along with a NNO party box that will include directions and supplies for a NNO neighborhood scavenger hunt.

Registration ends on Tuesday, July 31.

NNO, held by cities across the nation, is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate participation in neighborhood watch programs, create community bonds with law enforcement and to strengthen and promote collaboration within neighborhoods.

Cupertino will kick-off the 35th Annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 1st, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The event will be held in the Target parking lot (corner of Stevens Creek Blvd & Saich Way).
