Santa Clara County offering residents monthly grant to off-set medical expenses

Qualifying residents can receive financial assistance to off-set high out-of-pocket medical expenses as part of phase two of Santa Clara County’s MedAssist program.

The new stage of MedAssist will also offer pharmacist-led counseling and education services, including assistance with refill coordination, education on medications, addressing barriers to medication adherence, and more.

Financial assistance will come in the form of a monthly grant to cover life-saving medications, such as inhalers and anti-diabetics. Residents of Santa Clara County can enroll in the MedAssist program by visiting https://medassist.sccgov.org/.

The MedAssist program was designed in response to rising medical costs to support the “missing middle” population who reside in Santa Clara County. Many of these community members pay high out-of-pocket costs for life-saving medications, despite having health insurance, according to the County.

MedAssist aims to improve health outcomes and medication adherence for qualifying Santa Clara County residents by relieving some of the financial burden that accompanies many life-threatening conditions. Learn more about Santa Clara County’s MedAssist program here.
