The City of Cupertino is seeking the public’s help in deciding on a potential new name for its Fine Arts Commission. It is asking community members to give their preferences in a short survey.
The City wants the commission – which fosters, encourages, and assists in the realization, preservation, and advancement of fine art – to have a new name that will increase resident interest in it and align better with its set goals.
Commissioners have reviewed the branding of similar boards in 13 other Santa Clara County cities and have come up with two options for the name change:
1) Arts and Culture Commission
2) Culture, Visual, and Performing Arts Commission.
Voters can also choose to keep the current name.
Survey participants can additionally vote on the type of art – whether visual, performance, literary, digital, experimental, or other – they’d most like to see in Cupertino and where they’d like to see more of it.
Interested art lovers, regardless of whether they’re residents of Cupertino or not, can weigh in on the new moniker options.
Take the survey here before it closes on Friday, May 13.
