Cupertino Union School District recall effort fails

Efforts to recall three Cupertino Union School District Board of Education members failed as the recall petition fell short of the 11,542 signatures needed per board member by the April 6 deadline.

This marks the second time in less than two years that an effort to recall members of the school Board of Trustees has failed.

It is unclear how many signatures the petition received.

Sylvia Leong, Phyllis Vogel and Lori Cunningham were targeted by the latest recall effort. It was the second time Cunningham faced a recall campaign.

According to the County of Santa Clara Registrar of Voters, the Recall CUSD Board cannot turn in any of the same documents already submitted as part of the recall petition if it wants to continue its campaign.
