The application period for Cupertino’s annual Distinguished and Emerging Artist Awards contest is now open.
Presented by the city’s Fine Arts Commission, these awards recognize local artistic talents.
The two awards, the Emerging Artist Award and the Distinguished Artist Award, come with cash prizes: $1000 for the Emerging and $750 for the Distinguished.
According to the city’s website, “The Emerging Artist Award was established to encourage and recognize demonstrations of artistic promise…Judging criteria will include evidence of imagination and individuality as well as effective use of media and tools.”
“The Distinguished Artist Award recognizes established artists having a substantial body of work that display merit and excellence, as well as a history of contributions to their artistic field and the community.”
The deadline for applications is 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 12.
To apply, artists must “live or work in Cupertino” or be students at a Cupertino high school, college, or art school.
