The Santa Clara Woman’s Club is celebrating Preservation Month with a history presentation titled ‘Californio Community.’
Held in conjunction with the City of Santa Clara, the event will examine questions including “Who were these first Californio settlers to live in Santa Clara?” and “What were their lives like?,” according to the event’s flyer.
‘Californio’ is the term used for Spanish speaking residents of our region prior to California’s admission as the 31st state of the union in 1850.
The ‘Californio Community’ event will be held at the Santa Clara Woman’s Club Adobe, 3260 The Alameda, on Saturday, May 18, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
