Deadline nears for Housing Commission applications

The deadline for Cupertino residents to apply for the vacant seat on the Housing Commission is rapidly approaching.

Applications for the vacancy are due by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3 and can be submitted through the city’s online commission portal here.

The vacancy is for a commission member who is a “financial representative” who must represent a financial institution that is located in Cupertino. Only applicants who meet these criteria are eligible.

Cupertino’s Housing Commission has five members, appointed by the City Council to four-year terms. The person selected to fill this vacancy would serve until Jan. 20, 2022.

The Commission is tasked to “assists the housing division in developing housing policies and strategies; recommends policies for implementation and monitoring of affordable housing projects; helps identify sources of funding for affordable housing; and performs other advisory functions authorized by the council,” according to the city.

Housing Commission meetings are held at 9 a.m. on the second Thursday of each month at Cupertino City Hall.
