Thousands expected at Cupertino Earth & Arbor Day Festival

The 2018 Earth Day & Arbor Day Festival is set for this Saturday, April 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Cupertino Civic Center Plaza and on Torre Avenue from Rodrigues to Pacifica, according to the city.

The community event that typically attracts over 7,000 attendees and 75 partner organizations features hands-on activities, live entertainment, electric vehicle demos and delicious fare by local food trucks, organizers said.

A rock-climbing wall, petting zoo, free yoga and arts & crafts are among the activities planned for the festival.

In conjunction with the festival, Cupertino families are invited to participate in the third annual Pedal 4 the Planet family bike ride before the event, with registration starting at 9 a.m. and the bike ride running from 10 a.m. to  11 a.m. Saturday.

The ride begins at Cupertino Civic Center along Torre Avenue, next to Bitter + Sweet, according to organizers. Participants are asked to bring their own bike, helmet an possibly extra clothes to stay for the festival.

Free bike tune-ups before the ride will be offered, along with free bike valet parking all day.
