Cupertino residents interested in hearing updates about the Lehigh Hanson Cement Plant are encouraged to attend an annual community meeting on Thursday.
The public meeting will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Cupertino Community Hall, 10350 Torre Ave. Attendees will hear from a panel of speakers on various environmental updates involving the facility, which is located west of Cupertio city limits, at 24001 Stevens Creek Blvd., in the western hillsides of Santa Clara County.
Since the facility is outside of city limits, the City “cannot currently impose any operational conditions on the quarry or the cement plant,” Cupertino officials said.
However, “the City does maintain an active interest on operations particularly as they may impact health and safety within the City.”
