At only 17 years old, Cupertino resident Maalvika Bhat published her first book, “The Breadsters: A Teenager Cartoons the High School Years,” and is donating all proceeds to local school and disaster relief programs.

Maalvika has been working on her collection of comics for over five years. The book presents the challenges of being a teenager from the point of view of bread characters.

The book has received positive reviews, with one Amazon customer writing, “Whether you are entering high school, going through it, or have graduated, these hand-drawn comic strips offer a marvelous glimpse into the fizz and fizzle of an often-confusing, yet, wonderfully exciting phase of life.”

According to the Mercury News, Maalvika’s book has been a great success and was an Amazon bestseller in teen and young adult categories in October.

Maalvika treasures the characters she has created, as they have traveled with her from middle school to high school. She is looking forward to her future and the future of her characters as she enters the second half of her high school career and begins to think about college.
