The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) is hosting a Free Fishing Day on Sept. 1 at Stevens Creek County Park, 11401 Stevens Canyon Road.
This is the second Free Fishing event the CDFW has offered this year, which encourages people to fish without having to buy a sport fishing license. Bag and size limits, gear restrictions, report card requirements, fishing hours and stream closures will still be in effect throughout the event.
Anglers, or fisherman who use the method of fishing by means of an “angle” (fish hook), must have the appropriate report card if they are fishing for steelhead, sturgeon or salmon in the Smith and Klamath-Trinity River Systems during the Free Fishing Days.
