Life jackets are available to loan year-round for boaters in Santa Clara County.
According to a Cal Fire Santa Clara Unit representative, life jackets can be borrowed for up to three days with proof of a California driver’s license and the weight of the person needing the life jacket.
The life jacket loans are made possible by funding from the U.S. and California Boats and Waterways Association, as well as the partnership between the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Morgan Hill Fire and South Santa Clara County Fire.
There are several stations throughout Santa Clara County to pick up and loan life jackets, including Station 23 in Cupertino, 13326 Stevens Canyon Rd.
