Local artists encouraged to submit designs to transform utility boxes

The City has collaborated with local art school Hongyun Art and the Fine Arts Commission to encourage local students to submit designs for the “Energized by Art” contest.

The purpose of the contest is to transform the gray utility boxes along De Anza Boulevard and Stevens Creek Boulevard into “student eco-art canvasses for our whole community to enjoy,” according to the City of Cupertino website.

The contest asks applicants to consider how they get around Cupertino in the greenest, safest way possible, considering public transit, carpooling, walking, biking and other alternatives fuel vehicles.

Applicants must be in in grades K-12 and submissions must be made in person at 10457 S. De Anza Blvd. before April 9 at 5:00 p.m. Download the entry form here.
