Expert panel to host discussion on public rights and safety, Sept. 10

The Santa Clara County Leagues of Women Voters is sponsoring a public safety series featuring an expert panel. The series kicks off September 10 with “How to Maintain the Public’s Rights and Its Safety” from 2:30 to 4pm via zoom.

This week’s discussion will cover topics relating to the objectives of law enforcement organizations, responding to societal racism, community responsibilities, and accountability. Experts will engage with the audience to assess communities that have seen success in balancing fair treatment and safe neighborhoods.

“How to Maintain the Public’s Rights and Its Safety” will feature panelists:

  • Manuel Herrera, President, Board of Trustees,
  • East Side Union High School District,
  • Phan Ngo, Chief, Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, Shivaun Nurre, Independent Police Auditor, City of San Jose,
  • and Ashley Raveche, LWVC volunteer Policy Director for Criminal Justice.
