Santa Clara seeks community input in hiring next City Manager

The City of Santa Clara has released a community survey designed to gather resident input on the hiring of its next City Manager, responsible for overseeing day-to-day City government operations and for addressing the priorities established by the Council. The survey is designed to help guide the City’s recruitment and selection strategies.

The survey asks residents to list the most important challenges and opportunities facing the city, and identify the critical skills and experiences, management and leadership attributes their next city manager should have, as well as preferences on how the new City Manager should interact with the community. Survey responses are due by Friday, July 22. The survey is available here.

In April, the City appointed former interim city manager Rajeev Batra to once again serve as the city’s interim city manager, two months after firing Deanna Santana who had served in the role for five years due to lack of confidence.  Santana will receive a 12-month severance package outlined in her contract in exchange for agreeing not to sue the city regarding her dismissal.
