Viva Parks San Jose kicks off its downtown summer events series this week with weekday events from 6pm to 8pm each Monday through Thursday evening at various parks throughout the city. Coordinated by the city’s Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services department, Viva Parks is designed to inspire people to imagine and reinvent public spaces.
The Viva Parks events series is focused on wellness resources, physical activity, and community gathering. Events range from karaoke to live music, performances video game tournaments and more. Events also include food trucks, adult beverage vendors, local businesses and community resources. Free movie nights are scheduled for select Thursdays, and wine and paint events on select Fridays. Advance registration is required for some events; for the full schedule click here.
The city’s Viva Calle is also hosting its June closed-streets event on Sunday, June 12 from 10am to 3pm. Each monthly event temporarily closes miles of San Jose streets along a dedicated path to bring communities together to walk, bike, skate, play, and explore the city. Food trucks and vendors, performances and contests, and family activities are all featured. The Parks to Roses stretches from Backesto Park in Japantown to the Municipal Rose Garden.
