City of Santa Clara bibliophiles should rejoice at the return of the Mission and Northside Branch Libraries. Last week, the two bibliothecas reopened after being closed for two months.
The city government shut down the facilities on Jan. 24 out of caution related to the Omicron variant’s surge. The Central Park Library remained open at limited service. At the time, the county was averaging 4,442 new cases of COVID a week. Now, it is only averaging 206 new infections.
The Santa Clara City Library’s Bookmobile has also returned to duty. The roaming library offers critical access to books and resources that promote early childhood literacy, enrich the lives of seniors, and provide a gateway for low-income residents and new immigrants to a world of reading, learning, and information.
The Bookmobile provides morning service to neighborhoods and senior facilities, afternoon stops to schools, evening and weekend stops at city and community events and bustling live-shop-work developments.
Readers interested in visiting the reopened libraries should note the updated branch hours.
