Santa Clara County libraries offering free COVID test kits, N95 masks

Thousands of free COVID-19 rapid antigen test kits will be distributed to Santa Clara County residents via outdoor, drive-through distribution locations at six County libraries, courtesy of the Santa Clara County Library District (SCCLD), working in coordination with the County of Santa Clara and Santa Clara County District 5 Supervisor Joe Simitian.

Two free boxes of tests (four tests total) will be distributed per vehicle, and individuals walking or bicycling will also be able to pick up test kits, two per household.

No appointments are necessary and tests are available on a first-come, first-served basis only at the drive-thru locations. N95 masks also will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Antigen tests should be used by those who have symptoms of COVID-19, and also to end isolation or quarantine periods for those who tested positive or were exposed to a person with COVID-19, according to County recommendations. If an antigen test comes back positive, it should be recognized as valid and applicable isolation guidance should be followed.
