Caltrain announces New Year’s Eve schedule, free service

Thinking about heading into San Francisco to celebrate New Year’s Eve? Caltrain has released its train schedule for the holiday, including special trains after midnight, for those looking for a safe way to travel.

New Year’s Eve, which this year falls on Friday, will follow Caltrain’s weekday schedule for northbound and southbound service to/from San Francisco.

Travelers will enjoy free service on Caltrain starting at 8 p.m. Fri., Dec. 31 and extending until the last “post-event” train leaves San Francisco, per the company.

Special post-event trains are being offered by Caltrain following the last regularly scheduled train at 12:05 a.m. on New Year’s Eve. The first special southbound train will leave San Francisco at 12:30 a.m.—or when it is filled up—and the last train will leave no later than 1:30 a.m.

Per Caltrain, its trains will make all the usual local weekday stops running from San Francisco down the Peninsula to San Jose Diridon.
