The League of Women Voters of Cupertino-Sunnyvale is sponsoring an online event tonight at 6:30 pm to discuss Sunnyvale’s upcoming redistricting.  The event will feature civil rights attorney and democracy reform advocate Jonathan Mehta Stein, executive director of California Common Cause.

All cities with district-based election systems, like Sunnyvale, must redistrict after each Census. In 2019, the City of Sunnyvale adopted district boundaries using 2010 Census population counts, but some parts of the City such as North Sunnyvale have seen significant growth in the last 10 years.

The Sunnyvale City Council is creating a Redistricting Commission to facilitate the process of reviewing and adjusting the Council district lines; applications for the Redistricting Commission will open in March.
