The City of Santa Clara has partnered with The Salvation Army and Second Harvest Food Bank to provide Santa Clara residents free essential food items through February 2021.The Food For Families program kicked off in November 2020 and has been helping local families facing food insecurity due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The program runs every Wednesday from 2:00pm- 3:30pm at the Salvation Army on Homestead Road in Santa Clara. Families need to pre-register online once for this drive-thru and contactless pick up service. To sign up for the free service, click here.
As part of a greater city effort to address food insecurity, the Santa Clara Fire Department has worked diligently to deliver meals to seniors in need. The fire department delivered approximately 90 meals to homebound seniors on December 30, 2020. On January 8 of this year, to-go weekend meals were delivered to 165 seniors at the Santa Clara Senior Center.
