Cupertino accepting applications for city commissions

The City of Cupertino is accepting applications from residents for 12 open seats on its city commissions.

There are vacancies in the Audit Committee, Bicycle Pedestrian Commission, Fine Arts Commission, Housing Commission, Library Commission, and Planning Commission.

The deadline to apply for city commissions is Friday, Jan. 8 at 4:30 p.m. To apply, visit the city’s website. Interviews will take place between 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Jan. 25 and 26.

The annual commission vacancies are filled in January and commission appointments are made by majority vote of the Council for a term of four years.

Earlier this month, Councilmember Liang Chao hosted a virtual Commissioners Series for residents to learn about each commission. On Dec. 19, Cupertino for All, a local community advocacy group, hosted a separate event for residents to learn how to join Cupertino boards and commissions. Both events featured representatives from commission departments.
