Silicon Valley Power is hosting a virtual meeting on Thursday, November 5 to discuss the future deployment of small cell technology in Santa Clara on city owned street lights, and gather input from the community.

Deploying small cell technology throughout Santa Clara would supplement existing cell phone voice and data coverage, and facilitate the implementation of future services.

City staff and Silicon Valley Power have reached agreeable terms with a carrier for aesthetically appropriate installations throughout the city; the first agreement is slated to be considered by City Council this month.

Panelists at this week’s meeting include Riad Sleiman, principal electric utility engineer at Silicon Valley Power; David Witkowski, executive director of civic technologies initiatives at Joint Venture Silicon Valley; and William F. Hammett and Rajat Mathur, president and vice president, respectively at Hammett & Edison, Inc.
