The 2020 version of a Santa Clara tradition is adapting to COVID times, as so many events have done recently.
Santa Clara’s annual Parade of Champions, which saw thousands of attendees last year, is gearing up for a virtual event. The parade honors local individuals, businesses, organizations, and agencies each year.
The 2019 edition was the first after a more than 20 year hiatus.
“There are so many heroes to celebrate this year and that is why we are going to celebrate with you all Virtually!,” organizers said on their website.
2020’s parade, running virtually on Saturday October 10 at 11 a.m., will feature a number of video entries. Organizers solicited entries through late September, which will show during the online event.
This year also features a Yard Decorating Contest as a way to build community and honor essential workers. A map of yards entered into the contest, for families to drive, walk, or cycle by is available here. Photos of the entries are also available here. Announcement of the winners takes place on October 10 as well.
The parade will be viewable on the organizations website and social media channels. For more information on Saturday’s virtual event, click here.
