Cupertino Union school board candidates face off Wednesday

CUSD will be looking to cut as much as $5 million starting in the 2018-19 school year.

The four candidates vying for seats on the Cupertino Union school board will discuss their views at a forum Wednesday. The district is facing significant financial challenges and declining enrollment.

Two incumbents, Phyllis Vogel and Sylvia Leong, will appear with William Fluewelling and Sudha Kasamsetty. All four candidates will appear on one ballot in November, with the top two vote getters winning seats.

The League of Women Voters of Cupertino-Sunnyvale is hosting the forum, set for 12 noon on Wednesday, September 30.
