Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian is set to host the latest in his series of telephone town halls Sunday.
The event, set for 11 a.m. on Sunday, August 23, will discuss the status of COVID-19 response in the county. It follows similar events in April, May, June, and July.
The call comes as Santa Clara County continues to fight the virus, and as massive wildfires surround the region. Neighboring Santa Cruz County was removed from the state COVID-19 watch list this week, with San Francisco County expected soon.
As per his other events, local health and legal officials will join Simitian on the call.
- Dr. George Rutherford, Director of Prevention and Public Health Group at UC San Francisco
- Greta Hansen, Assistant County Counsel for Santa Clara County
Following state data collection issues, Santa Clara’s rate of new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations has stabilized or decreased. More than 15,000 county residents have tested positive, with 216 fatalities since the pandemic began.
