Local business group gets new leader

Following the sudden departure of its CEO earlier this summer, the Sunnyvale Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce has new leadership.

The business advocacy group announced Dawn Maher as its CEO Monday. Maher succeeds Don Eagleston who led the group for 10 years.

“I am honored and energized by the opportunity to lead this important organization, which is

critical to our community, particularly amidst fundamental changes to the way we live and work,” Maher said in the announcement of her new role.

Maher comes from the Mountain View Chamber where she served as Chief Operating Officer. She also worked at the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce before that position.

“[Dawn] has demonstrated a strong track record leading change, driving results, strengthening operations and advocating on behalf of business,” said Graham Clark, Chair of the organization’s board.

Maher also has work experience in the finance and tech sectors, which are critical to the region’s economic output. She is also a Sunnyvale resident.

“Her significant experience combined with her passion and commitment to Sunnyvale were important

considerations for the Board of Directors,” Clark added.
