A group of Bay Area Rotary clubs is highlighting significant membership and program growth over the past year.

Rotary District 5170, which includes 61 clubs in the region, has added four new clubs and 360 new members. That is the highest Rotary membership growth in North America, the group claimed.

“Our theme [Rotary Connects the World] captured how we, as a service organization with now 61 clubs in the Bay Area, had to adapt and adjust on how we meet and connect and continue our community service,” said Ramesh Hariharan, the district’s Governor.

The District joined forces with the American Red Cross in recent months to step up programming and community support.

One major source of activity has been the recently launched Rotary Club of Silicon Andhra, adding more than 200 members.

Additionally, the district saw local initiatives and a large Business Expo to showcase local employers.

Many of the local Rotary groups have also been active throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. In Cupertino, Rotary supported a poetry competition and grant programs. It also supported efforts to expand access to personal protective equipment for healthcare workers.
