Santa Clara taking ‘State of the City’ online

Cities across the region continue to adjust annual traditions in the COVID-19 era.

This week, the City of Santa Clara is making changes to the mayor’s ‘State of the City’ events. Unlike previous iterations, Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmor is taking it online and focusing in on several communities.

On Wednesday, June 17, Gillmor will address the city’s District 1 and 2 residents. Thursday, she moves to Districts 3 and 4, before covering Districts 5 and 6 on Friday. Members of the city council are likely to join Gillmor during the events. All three events run from 4 to 5 p.m.

City Manager Deanna Santana will provide an overview of the shifting budget landscape during the pandemic era. Meanwhile, City Clerk Hosam Haggag will moderate a Q&A session for the public to ask questions of these city leaders.

The Mayor will also honor community members for their work during COVID-19 in serving the community.

There are three ways for the public to engage in the conversations:

  1. By phone, if you sign up in advance. To sign up, click here.
  2. Joining an event as it starts. To do so, call 1-877-353-4701 during the event times.
  3. Watching online. The city will livestream the events on its Facebook and YouTube pages.
