After a few months of COVID-19-imposed closures and adaptation into curbside retail, two local malls are reopening.
Westfield’s Valley Fair and Oakridge shopping centers will welcome shoppers again on Monday, June 15. Retailers hope pent up demand might pump up the local economy, which has struggled as the pandemic spread.
Modified hours and a range of safety measures will greet any shoppers who show up. The centers will be open Monday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday hours are 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Increased cleaning and social distancing will be required, as will face masks. According to the Valley Fair website, sanitizer stations will augment staff cleanings. Customers displaying any COVID-19 symptoms may not visit.
“We are working closely with county officials and other relevant community groups to ensure a healthy, clean and safe environment for our customers, tenants and employees; and are committed to providing the best experience possible as business begins to operate at the centers,” Westfield’s Leah Heil told a local Patch affiliate.
