Fremont Union graduation parades Thursday afternoon

While the coronavirus pandemic has thrown school districts and other spring and summer festivities into chaos, graduations are proceeding.

Fremont Union High School District is honoring its graduates Thursday, June 4, with activities that only make sense during COVID-19.

Car parades, which have been a feature of the pandemic despite being briefly banned, and virtual ceremonies will define the end of the high school era for the class of 2020.

Monta Vista High’s parade starts at 3:30 p.m. before a 5:30 p.m. virtual graduation. Homestead High follows with a 4:00 p.m. parade and 6:00 p.m. graduation. Cupertino High wraps up the evening with a 4:30 p.m. parade and 6:30 p.m. online ceremony.

The two hour window from parade to graduation should provide ample time for returning home for the virtual portions.

Santa Clara County Sheriffs will control traffic, which may hamper residential travel.
