As the shelter-at-home orders continue into their ninth week, local businesses continue to get creative.
After a successful meal-matching program, Sand Hill Property Company is launching a new effort to support Cupertino restaurants.
Starting Tuesday, May 12, the company is running ‘Takeout Tuesdays.’
Each Tuesday, Sand Hill will match meals purchased at a specific Main Street Cupertino restaurant. Announcements on which restaurant will be featured each week will be made on the company’s Facebook page.
The first restaurant with matched meals, on May 12, is Lazy Dog, located at 19359 Stevens Creek Blvd.
“I hope you will continue to support this effort and make a meal at Main Street Cupertino part of the Tuesday routine at your house,” Sand Hill’s Reed Moulds said.
Sand Hill’s matched meals will be donated to a local school district program, which is connecting those meals to families in need.
Building on a successful model
The Takeout Tuesdays program builds on Sand Hill’s effort in April to support families in need and local restaurants struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the last two weeks in April, Sand Hill matched all meals purchased at a number of Main Street Cupertino restaurants. Thanks to the community’s actions, Sand Hill donated 11,000 meals to Fremont Union High and Cupertino Union School Districts.
“This is truly win-win: these contributions are not only feeding neighbors through the end of the school year, they’re helping keep local restaurants and their workers in business – helping them to feed their families as well,” Moulds said in an e-newsletter.
