Simitian holding telephone town hall Sunday

Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian is hosting a telephone town hall this weekend with U.S. Representative Anna Eshoo (D-CA-18) to answer questions about COVID-19 in our community.

Other guests on the call include:

  • Dr. Sara Cody, the County’s Public Health Officer,
  • Dr. Yvonne Maldonado, Chief of Infection Control at Stanford Hospital, and
  • Dr. Mark Adams, Chief Medical Officer at El Camino Hospital.

The event comes as Cody and other Bay Area health officials have extended the shelter-at-home orders through early May, and just days after announcing recommendations that residents wear face coverings when in public.

Eshoo will discuss the federal response to the novel coronavirus. Simitian will cover the Board’s actions to help provide relief to local businesses and families. Cody has been a central figure in the County’s response and its ongoing preparations for the expected surge of COVID-19 patients needing acute care in coming weeks.

The telephone town hall is Sunday, April 5 beginning at 11 a.m. To participate, call (855) 866-6313.

  1. QUESTION: If I and my daughter’s family has been practicing self-isolation, social distance if going out and other recommended practices for almost a month now, at what point is it acceptable for us visit each other?

  2. Thank you, supervisor Simitian, for hosting such an informative telephone town hall today. It is very comforting to know that you are leading us in such challenging times. I am looking forward to hearing the next call on the 26Th.
