With new recommendations from Santa Clara County officials barring large group events, to help prevent further spread of COVID-19, the Los Altos History Museum has canceled the opening ceremony for its newest exhibition.
The event, originally scheduled for March 21, was planned to celebrate the opening of the museum’s newly renovated historic Tank House building and the opening of the new exhibition: “In the Fields of the North / En los Campos del Norte.”
“The safety of our community is of paramount importance to the Los Altos History Museum,” said Dr. Elisabeth Ward, the museum’s Executive Director.
While the museum itself remains open, enhanced hygiene measures are being undertaken.
“We are installing additional hand-sanitizing stations and implementing additional cleaning protocols to allow us to remain open for our normal opening hours,” Ward said.
Ward encouraged any potential visitors to follow recommended health and safety protocols, including by maintaining a safe distance from one another while inside the museum spaces.
Any other upcoming events are currently being reevaluated by museum officials.
Los Altos History Museum is open Thursday through Sunday each week from 12 noon to 4 p.m. each day.
