A pair of Mountain View parks are set to reopen this weekend, following successful construction projects.
McKelvey Ball Park and Schaefer Park are set to reopen on Saturday, February 29, with a neighborhood celebration and a ceremonial first pitch.
Valley Water completed the major milestone project, the McKelvey Ball Park flood detention basin, as part of its ongoing Permanente Creek Flood Projection project. Once fully built out, the floor project will help protect approximately 2,200 properties in Mountain View and Los Altos.
In addition to two baseball fields and a community room, the new mini park – Schaefer Park – has playground equipment and a shaded area for families to play.
Saturday’s celebration will see attendance from Valley Water, Mountain View, and local Little League officials. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The new park is located at 930 Miramonte Ave in Mountain View.
