Community workshops Saturday to discuss dog parks in Los Altos

over 70-percent of residents in a recent survey supported having an off-leash dog area at Jollyman Park in Cupertino.

Deciding when, where, and how to add a dog park to the community can be a difficult one with lots of competing interests and lots of opinions from residents.

Los Altos is halfway through a series of four community workshops examining the options for a dog park in the city, with fenced areas and off-leash hours.

The first pair of meetings were Wednesday, February 12 at Shoup Park Garden House. This weekend’s workshops are set for Saturday, February 29 at Grant Park’s Multi-Purpose Room, 1570 Holt Ave.

Each runs for approximately an hour, with the first from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the second from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.

The drop-in events will review options and show different ideas. Fenced-in park options are being discussed for McKenzie Park and South Lincoln Park, while off-leash hours are under consideration for Hillview Baseball Field and Heritage Oaks Park.
