Garden tour Tuesday in Santa Clara

Community gardens bring not just greenery and new life to often forgotten corners of a neighborhood, but also help serve as gathering points for growing relationships among fellow residents.

For curious Santa Clara residents, an open garden tour this week will provide answers and information.

On Tuesday, January 28, the Everett “Eddie” Souza Park and Community Garden will be open for residents to walk through. A city volunteer will be on site to answer questions and provide a tour of the site.

The tour is free and open for all ages. Open hours run from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Souza Community Garden, located at 2380 Monroe St. in Santa Clara, is part of a 2-acre park neighboring the San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail. It features a mini orchard, teaching and display beds and other organic plantings.
