Pair of Lunar New Year celebrations Saturday in Santa Clara

With Lunar New Year coming quickly, a pair of events on Saturday, January 18, in Santa Clara will put West Valley residents in the festive mindset to welcome in the Year of the Rat.

Westfield Valley Fair is set to host their sixth annual community celebration for Lunar New Year. The event will feature entertainment performances, including lion dances, music, Chinese dance, martial arts and more. A raffle, calligraphy, fortune telling, arts and crafts with community organizations and some retailers from the mall will round out the day.

The event at Westfield Valley Fair, 2855 Stevens Creek Blvd., is on Level 1 in J.Crew Court from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Santa Clara’s Central Park Library is hosting a Lunar New Year celebration of its own, also on Saturday, featuring story time sessions, lion dances, and crafts for all ages.

Beginning at 10:30 a.m., the first storytime session runs for 30 minutes before a second session kicks off at 11 a.m. Lion Dances and crafts follow. The event is first-come, first-served and could face limited parking depending on attendance numbers.

Central Park Library, 2635 Homestead Rd. in Santa Clara, will be celebrating the festivities from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
