San Francisquito Creek restoration event series starting

Building on their ongoing efforts to clean up McClellan Ranch in Cupertino, Bryne Preserve in Los Altos Hills, Pearson-Arastradero Preserve, and San Tomas Aquino Creek, Grassroots Ecology is set to launch a new habitat restoration series.

The new events will help restore the riparian ecosystem of San Francisquito Creek, which runs through the northern end of Palo Alto. Efforts will include removal of invasive species and taking time to enjoy the natural habitat.

Saturday’s event is the first of three scheduled for this creek. The first event, Saturday, December 21, is from 2 to 4 p.m. The meeting point is 980 Palo Alto Ave.

Future events are scheduled for Saturday, January 18, and Saturday, January 25. Both of those events also run from 2 to 4 p.m. with locations to be determined.

All events are rain or shine, which could come into play with wet weather forecast for this weekend across the region.
