Schola Cantorum performances to ring in Christmas season

As part of its 2019-20 season – its 56th and the first under new artistic director Buddy James – Schola Cantorum Silicon Valley is preparing for a pair of concerts to bring Christmas spirit to the West Valley.

On Sunday, December 15, the choir will perform Kirke Mechem’s ‘Seven Joys of Christmas,’ which features carols from numerous different countries, used to show the many joys of the season. The concert begins at 2 p.m.

Organizers note that attendees will have several opportunities to sing along, joining in on the spirit of the Christmas season. Santa may make an appearance as well.

A new location, St. Joseph of Cupertino Church – 10110 N. De Anza Blvd in Cupertino – will host this year’s performance. Tickets, which are $28 per person and free with a student ID, are available here.

The next day, Monday, December 16, the choir will perform its 53rd-annual ‘Messiah’ alongside the Sinfonia Schola Cantorum. The performance of Handel’s piece is approximately 2.5 hours long with one intermission.

The Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts – 500 Castro St. – hosts this event, which begins at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets to Monday’s show, which are $26 per adult and $18 per student/child, are available here.
